Second Three Minilessons: Ana, Coby, Nina

Questions

In the midst of the COVID 19 crisis, what tools can we develop to engage children who can no longer be in the dance studio and are instead at home?

Please, write a reflection on how this video can improve online dance/movement instruction for children.

One of my favorite videos

In the video you will hear some ballet terminology being used

People consider ballet to be very black and white, but there is a lot more to it

Demonstrates athleticism, musicality, trust, and artistic ability needed to be a ballet dancer

DANCE ACTIVITY

The five ballet positions (feet, arms, and together)

There are seemingly an infinite number of things ballet dancers must keep in mind while moving

ASSESSMENT

Activity Now, try to do all of the positions on your own asI call them out in a random order.

This will test how well students understood today’s lesson

Now, try to do the positions in order to the music

Musicality is extremely important in dance, especially ballet

Timing is everything

Questions (do during cool down)

Reflect on what you learned from today’s lesson.

What is something you learned about ballet that you didn’t know before?

What is one thing you learned from the video?

What was your favorite part about today’s class?

COOL DOWN

Stretching

Breathing exercises
