1.- Intro to Israeli Dance 

Teacher will give a brief introduction to Israeli dance. Historical background will be included, and the explanation of the basics to the dance 

5 minutes 

PowerPoint Presentation 

2.- Warm up 

Student will do a basic warm up 

3 minutes 

Music in Hebrew 

3.- Choreography 

Students will learn basic Israeli dance, and the meaning of the lyrics to the song. 

10 minutes 

Music in Hebrew 

4.- Discussion 

Student will share their personal experience when learning this cultural dance 

2 minutes

Components, Objectives,& Competency

 

 

Warmup

Everyone form into a big circle. One by one, every one will say their name, favorite sea creature, and act out a movement that reflects how they are feeling today.

 

Activity

 

When you hear the music, can you start by showing me a...-Happy shape -Now, skip anywhere around the room-Hop -Anger shape- Leap -Lastly, can you show me a sad shape

 

Keep in mind, a shape is anything that stays in place!

Group work

 

Now, let’s split the class into two groups. Each group will tell a story with the movements we learned from the story. -Choose some of your favorite sea creatures and come up with a creative dance. -Groups will have until the end of the song to create their dances. Then, they will perform them
