LESSON PLANS

Cristina Padron

Lesson Plan for DAN 385

Age Level: Kindergarten

Component: Movement Skills and Underlying Principles

Objectives: Explores non-locomotor skills: bending, stretching, twisting, arching, turning, falling

Competency: The student can solve locomotor and non- locomotor movement problems (walk slowly, run quickly, stop) by creating a short thematic interpretation that will demonstrate these movements

I will achieve this component, objective and competency by reading the story Maybe you should fly a jet, Maybe you should be a vet to introduce the theme of careers to my Kindergarten class. After reading the story, I will review it to make sure the children are understanding the concept. Lastly, we will play a charades activity where students will use movements such as the ones described above to show what career they want to be when they grow up. If in the classroom, I would have props to help the students depict their career.
